Reimagining Rest Haven Primary School: A Collaborative Effort for Lasting Impact

Rest Haven Primary School, a 45-year-old community school in Glen Forest, Harare, is home to 769 learners from the surrounding farming and working-class communities of Hatcliffe, Domboshava, and beyond. With enrolment now exceeding the school’s original capacity, the need for improved infrastructure has become urgent.

In response, we partnered with Benedict Farai Kunaka of Inviktvs Design Group and Kudzai Keith Gopo of Studio Inception to develop a transformative master plan for the school. This collaborative effort is entirely pro bono—a shared commitment to supporting under-resourced schools and creating learning environments that meet today’s standards.

The proposed master plan includes a new administration block, additional classrooms, modern toilet facilities, a school hall and amphitheatre, kitchen and pavilion, fish pond, gatehouse, fencing, and new landscaping. Importantly, the project prioritises the use of locally sourced materials, labour, and skills—ensuring the development is sustainable and community-driven.

Implementation will be done in phases due to the scale of the interventions required. We invite individuals, organisations, and businesses to join us in turning this vision into reality. Your support can help shape a brighter, more dignified future for every child at Rest Haven Primary School.
