Fighting Period Poverty: Our Journey with Kumusha Gardens

Today marks a significant milestone in our mission to end period poverty, as we proudly handed over sanitary pads to 130 girls from vulnerable backgrounds at Rest Haven Primary School. This event is a step forward in our ongoing campaign to collect 1 million sanitary pads, a goal we are committed to achieving with the support of our partners, like Kumusha Gardens & Resort.

Why This Matters

For many girls in Zimbabwe, access to sanitary pads is not guaranteed. Period poverty, the lack of access to menstrual products, hygiene facilities, waste management, and education, severely impacts girls’ ability to attend school and participate in daily activities. It is an issue that forces many to choose between managing their periods and attending school, creating unnecessary barriers to their education and future.

At Rest Haven Primary School, 130 girls received these essential items, allowing them to focus on their education and well-being rather than worrying about how to manage their periods. These girls represent just a small portion of the many in need across Zimbabwe, and this is why our mission to collect 1 million sanitary pads is so crucial.

The Journey So Far

Our partnership with Kumusha Gardens & Resort has been instrumental in making this initiative possible. Together, we’ve been able to raise awareness and gather the resources needed to support vulnerable girls, ensuring they have access to the basic menstrual products that many of us take for granted.

Today’s handover event was more than just a moment of distribution—it was a testament to the power of collaboration and community. It was a day filled with hope, gratitude, and a shared commitment to tackling period poverty head-on. The smiles on the faces of the girls we met today are a reminder of why this cause is so important.

What’s Next?

While we celebrate this achievement, our work is far from over. The 130 girls who received sanitary pads today are just the beginning. Our mission is to reach as many girls as possible, and that means we need your continued support.

We’re aiming to collect 1 million sanitary pads to ensure that no girl is left behind. With each donation, we come one step closer to ensuring that girls across Zimbabwe can manage their periods with dignity and confidence. Whether it’s donating sanitary pads, raising awareness, or volunteering your time, there are many ways you can join us in this fight against period poverty.

How You Can Help

Ending period poverty requires a collective effort, and we need your help to reach our goal. Here’s how you can support:
